2013 Rugby League action continues for Australians, as well as the English, on Saturday February 23rd when the 2012 NRL Premiers the Melbourne Storm take on the 2012 UK Super League champions, the Leeds Rhinos, at Headingley Stadium West Yorkshire England.
The Rhinos got to this stage thanks to a memorable 26-18 win over the Warrington Wolves in the Super League Grand Final after finishing fifth in the regular season. Their final win came due to the grand effort of skipper Kevin Sinfield, who scored 14 of his sides 26 points. This will be their second successive World Club Challenge match and their sixth overall.
The Melbourne Storm qualified to be the second team in this match after convincingly beating the Canterbury Bulldogs 14-4 in the NRL Grand Final, thanks largely to superstar hooker Cameron Smith, along with his sidekicks Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk. This will be the fourth World Club Challenge for the Storm and their first since 2010, which they won but was subsequently stripped of due to the salary cap rorting scandal.
Both sides will want to come out all guns blazing on one of the great sporting venues in the world, so expect some fireworks, as well as some dazzling footy!
