The 2012 Hong Kong Champions Mile has attracted the highest quality field of international runners in the event’s history and to help enjoy this exciting meet Punters Paradise is providing access to a table of the best odds on offer, racing picks, detailed forms, ratings, race preview and more.

Champions Mile

The Champions Mile, held this Sunday the 6th of May, is a 1600 metre Group One weight-for-age event for invites aged three years old and up. The Champions Mile race-times are 4:35pm local Hong Kong, 6:35pm Sydney AU and 9:35am Sunday morning GMT.

Held annually at the Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong, the BMW Champions Mile is the first leg of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge, a series of official qualifying races for the Breeders' Cup World Championships.

The 2012 Champions Mile offers prize money worth HK$12million, which is approximately $2million US, or $1.8million AUD and has attracted international attention due to the quality of this year’s field.

Champions Mile Horses

A field which includes three strong overseas contenders led by Cityscape (GB), winner of the Dubai Duty Free in record time. African Story (GB), who won the Dubai Godolphin Mile (1600m) and Black Caviar’s stable-mate King’s Rose, named New Zealand horse of the year before joining ranks with trainer Peter Moody.

The members of this contingent of international competitors are seeking to become the first raiders to win the event since it was opened to overseas gallopers seven years ago. Remarkably, Hong-Kong trained horses have not only won the past seven Champions Mile meets, they have also provided nineteen of the twenty-one place-getters.

In order to accomplish this ambitious feat, Cityscape, African Story and King’s Rose must defeat the top milers in Hong Kong.

A talented group led by Hong Kong Horse Of The Year, Ambitious Dragon, Able One, a two-time winner of the event (2010/2007), last year’s winner Xtentsion and second place-getter Lucky Nine.
